　Ueno Elementary School is founded under the idea of an intelligent school. Our school has four main features; it is opened to the community, it takes open-system education, and we make much of computer literacy education.

　First, our school plays a central role for life long education at local level. For example, we have various institutions which is opened to the community; the kindergarten, the elementary school, and the multi purpose center for social activities, which contains the swimming pool with heat system, conference rooms, and so on. We aim to make development together with the community.

　Second, we work with the idea of open-system education in visible and invisible way. For instance, our school has no wall between the classrooms and the corridors, which provides us wide space. Not only the physical wall, but also invisible walls are taken away in our school; teachers work together over their classes, children learn various subjects, and each student is respected as an individual in our education.

　Third, children are supposed to learn well about computers, by which they can deal much information.

　Lastly, our school building is under complete air conditioner system, which is controlled in only one room.

　Our school is designed, with all these features, in order to offer students comfortable circumstance as human beings belong to the community. Now we are making efforts to establish a new ideal style of our school, by making much of these various institutions and advanced functions. We hope that children come to make challenges positively, be proud of themselves, show kindness to their friends, and, love their hometown Ueno.
